634: The Truth About Training
Today’s show is a clip from a coaching call with a small group of our DSI clients. This portion of the call was focused around onboarding, an all too common issue. During the call Alastair speaks on the importance of prepping the existing team to embrace and nurture the new hire. This can be done with a simple meeting in which you share memories of a few team members’ first day. We then get into the idea of front and back stage training, and developing lead trainers within the team.
- We must prepare the team to help the new hire by invoking memories of others’ first
- Setting up both front stage and back stage training
- The importance of connecting the process to its consequences
- If someone is good at a task it doesn’t mean they’ll be good at training
